Brain Sleep Ambassadors are individuals who, through Brain Sleep products and services, awaken their own potential through sleep and are active in various fields. In "BRAINSLEEP LIFE," we explore the secrets of how their lifestyles, values regarding sleep, and encounters with Brain Sleep have changed their lives.
For the first installment of BRAINSLEEP LIFE, we interview Kumiko Takada, a digital creator active in fashion and lifestyle blogs, as well as on Instagram and YouTube.
Q: Please introduce yourself.
A: My name is Kumiko Takada. I work as an influencer on SNS, YouTube, and other platforms.
I started my activities a few years ago, and with the support of my followers, I have reached my current level of activity. I recently started YouTube, where I capture casual moments with my family in videos, and on Instagram, I mainly post about fashion, so I often receive consultations related to fashion.
Q: I'd like to ask about your lifestyle. You've moved away from the city center, haven't you?
A: Yes. Although I had work in Tokyo, when I became more active on Instagram, I also had family circumstances. So, I moved to Gunma, where my husband's parents live, and I now live with my in-laws.
In this new life, there have been many lessons learned, such as keeping shared spaces clean and maintaining other moral standards. At the same time, my desire to enrich my life grew, and I think I've come to enjoy thinking about food, clothing, and shelter, including sleep, as much as fashion.
Q: Please tell us your daily schedule.
A: My daughter is an early riser, and she wakes up between 5:00 and 6:00 and starts asking to play.
We have a playroom-like space at home, and I first take her there and look after her for about an hour. While she plays by herself, I start getting myself ready and preparing breakfast.
We finish breakfast around 7:30 or by 8:00 at the latest. From 8:00 until around lunchtime, I spend time with my daughter.
My husband usually works remotely, so sometimes he spends time with us or works alongside us when he doesn't have meetings. When that happens, I can prepare for Instagram or shoot YouTube videos.
I start preparing around 12:00 and finish lunch with my daughter by 13:00. Depending on the day, we spend time playing outside until around 14:00.
From there, my daughter naps until around 16:00, and after she wakes up, I prepare dinner. We have dinner around 17:30 or 18:00, which is a bit like how people used to live.
I bathe with my daughter until around 19:00, and then I hand her over to my husband. My daughter goes to bed around 20:00, and after she's asleep, it's adult time. I spend time doing things I like or working, and then I go to sleep between 22:00 and 22:30.
Q: Did you have any concerns about sleep?
A: Until now, I was truly indifferent to sleep. It wasn't that I particularly liked sleeping, but I thought there wasn't a significant difference whether I slept well or not.
The timing when this thought changed was right around when I had my child. Because my sleep became irregular, I started to think that sleep was very important from that period onwards.
Q: I'd like to ask about your sleep since becoming a mother. Specifically, what kind of impact has it had on your daily life?
A: For about six months to a year after my daughter was born, until things stabilized, I would get irritable from lack of sleep, and I would lose control mentally. I think it might have affected both myself and my family.
Now I can look back on it with regret, but I think it was a difficult situation to deal with calmly at the time.
It was at that time that I encountered Brain Sleep, and realizing how comfortable I could be by getting quality sleep made my interest in sleep soar.
I'm still in the midst of raising my child, so not everything has been resolved, but I feel that improving the quality of my sleep has significantly reduced my stress. I have confidence in this pillow that I can get quality sleep even for a short time.
Q: Please tell us if you've noticed any changes in your sleep since using Brain Sleep products.
A: I started to realize anew that I spend a very long time sleeping in my life, and I regretted that I hadn't invested more money or paid more attention to it.
I feel that if I had thought about it more properly and gotten enough sleep, I could have made my daily life more splendid and comfortable.
What I felt with the pillow was that it didn't retain heat. I started using it in the summer, and I felt that the vermicelli-like shape dispersed the heat, which contributed to improved sleep.
I started using the mattress this winter, and even though my feet get cold, just a slight elevation made my feet feel wonderfully warm while I slept, which was really impressive.
Q: Please tell us what you like about using Brain Sleep products.
A: I think there are two main points: one is the comfort during sleep, and the other is the ease of keeping it clean.
Regarding comfort during sleep, it's the depth of sleep. Even when I get sleep in between taking care of my daughter, I sleep very well, which I really like.
As for keeping it clean, it's very easy to wash. You can just peel off the sheets, throw them in the washing machine, and cleaning the surface sheets is simple. It's also very refreshing to be able to unzip the inner mattress part and wash it with water.
You can't really do that with other mattresses, so I really like how easy to handle the Brain Sleep mattress is.
Q: Is there anyone you'd like to experience Brain Sleep?
A: The person I'd most like to experience it is my husband, after all. When I can't do something due to work, or when I can't do housework or childcare, my husband helps me, so I think he's just as tired.
I believe that if he also used Brain Sleep, not just me, our parenting as a couple would be enhanced, and the same goes for housework. So, I really want my husband to experience it.
Also, I'd like my parents and in-laws, who raised me, to experience it. I naturally want all my loved ones to experience it.
Q: You mentioned that your quality of sleep has improved and your daily life has become "splendid." Do you have any challenges you'd like to take on in the future?
A: My daughter is one and a half years old, and as she asks to play more often, I want to be able to play with her wholeheartedly without feeling sleepy or tired, and I want to enrich my parenting.
Regarding my home, I married into this family, and I believe my family has high expectations of me, so I want to excel at household chores like cooking and cleaning.
Also, as a woman, I have a strong desire to be very active in my career, so I want to manage these three aspects well. To do that, getting plenty of quality sleep and staying healthy is essential, so I intend to prioritize sleep.
