[#2 BRAINSLEEP LIFE - Sasha] Sleeping helps me choose the words I want to say “just a fraction of a second faster.”

#BRAINSLEEPLIFE

Brain Sleep Ambassadors are individuals who awaken their own potential through sleep using Brain Sleep products and services, and are active in various fields.

In "BRAINSLEEP LIFE," we explore the secrets of how their lifestyles, values towards sleep, and encounters with Brain Sleep have transformed their lives.

For the second installment of BRAINSLEEP LIFE, we speak with Sascha, who is active in a wide range of fields, including radio DJing and motorsports commentary.

サッシャさん

Q: Please introduce yourself.

A: My name is Sascha. People often ask me what my job title is, but I don't really know myself (laughs).

I'm a radio DJ, sports commentator, narrator, and TV host, so I don't really have a specific job title.
I enjoy trying new things, so if I had to say, I'd call myself a radio DJ and newscaster.

Q: Can you tell us about your daily schedule?

A: My routine differs greatly between weekdays and weekends. From Monday to Thursday, I host a show called STEP ONE on J-WAVE from 9 AM to 1 PM, so I always wake up at 6 AM, drop off my kids, and head to work. After the live broadcast ends at 1 PM, I have narration or TV work.

After that, I usually work until evening or night and then go home. On weekends, from March to November, excluding December to February, I usually have sports commentary, such as motorsports or the Tour de France.

Q: Do you have a set amount of time you sleep, like "I have to sleep for X hours!"?

睡眠時間は決められているのですか?

A: I'm the type of person who needs to sleep, but even on weekdays, my sleep schedule is irregular because I often prepare for the next day after getting home before going to bed.

Ideally, I'd like to sleep for 8 hours, but I often only get about 4-5 hours. On weekends, I sometimes catch up on sleep when I can, but I also often wake up early with my family, go out for breakfast together, or take the kids out. After that, I sometimes have work, so I'd say I get about 6-7 hours of sleep.

Q: Do you have any particular preferences or habits regarding sleep?

A: I used to be very particular about sleeping for as long as possible. So, regardless of whether I had the time, I would try to fall asleep as quickly as possible once I was in bed within the limited time available. When waking up, I wouldn't get up until the very last minute. I had this mindset that time was justice.

Q: Did you have any sleep-related concerns?

A: One thing was that when I'm doing sports commentary, my adrenaline is maxed out, so even after I finish work and get home, I'm still in an excited state and can't fall asleep at all. So it takes me a long time to get to sleep.

Another thing was that I never found a pillow I liked, so I used to sleep with a towel as a pillow.
I didn't like them too high or too low, too soft or too hard. I tried many others, but I thought a towel would allow me to adjust it by folding it according to how I felt that day.

But then my neck would hurt when I woke up, and it wasn't stable. Also, the towel would get messed up while I was tossing and turning. I was a pillow refugee for a long time.

Q: If you've noticed any changes in your sleep since using Brain Sleep, please tell us about them.

ブレインスリープを使うことで睡眠について変わったか

A: I mentioned earlier that I was particular about sleep duration, but I've realized that sleep quality is also important, not just the amount of time.

I have a routine of taking a shower and waking myself up in the morning, but even if my sleep duration is short, if the quality of my sleep is high, I wake up feeling refreshed, and the whole process from waking up to showering feels smoother.

I don't immediately feel 100% awake in the morning, but I think the time it takes to get to 100% has become shorter.

Also, I tend to toss and turn a lot, and I used to have a herniated disc in my lower back, so I would sometimes feel back pain while sleeping. I struggled with choosing a mattress, but I think I no longer feel that pain.

Q: How has the change in sleep quality affected your daily life (work and private life)?

A: In radio and sports commentary, quick thinking is crucial, so if I don't get enough sleep, my mind doesn't work as well, words don't come out, my tongue gets tied, and my performance visibly declines.

As a professional, quick thinking is paramount, but with improved sleep quality, the fraction of a second it takes me to speak has become faster, and I believe my performance in terms of "speaking" has improved.

Q: If there are any aspects of Brain Sleep products that you particularly like, please tell us about them.

気に入っている点はなにか

A: The pillow gradually conforms to the shape of your head as you use it. I used to struggle with pillow height, but this one fits perfectly, and the firmness is just right – not too soft, not too hard. Whether I'm on my back or side, it always feels snug, making it easy to toss and turn.

Until now, I rarely washed the pillow itself, but with Brain Sleep, you can wash the entire pillow, and a hot shower can reset its fit, allowing it to conform to your shape again. I feel like this cycle keeps it fresh, which I really like.

I've tried mattresses from various manufacturers, but I use a Brain Sleep mattress.
I use it on top of my bed mattress, and it's just exquisitely good. I originally slept on a slightly firm mattress, but by putting the Brain Sleep mattress on top, it feels just right.

Honestly, it's hard to describe in words; I can only call it "exquisitely resilient" (laughs).

If it fits your body too perfectly, you'll stay in the same position the whole night, and when you toss and turn, it puts a tremendous strain on your lower back.

That's why I used something a bit firmer, but when you put the Brain Sleep mattress on top, it supports you adequately from below while still allowing you to sink in, so it conforms to your body just right, making it easy to toss and turn.

Also, only the foot area is raised. The moment you place your feet, it feels like... well, not a natural massage effect, but it feels like you're getting a little massage.

Q: Is there anyone you would like to experience Brain Sleep?

A: My son and I are currently using Brain Sleep, but I'd also like my daughter to try it. My daughter is in junior high school, and I feel like her grades aren't improving, so I want her to improve her sleep quality even a little bit so she can concentrate in class. (laughs)
