The product will be released on Thursday, November 11th, on "zzzLand," the company's e-commerce site specializing in sleep products. Background of Product Development Recent changes in working styles and lifestyles have led to diversified stress. Even when the body rests, the brain and mind remain tired, causing a continuous state of tension due to anxiety and accumulated fatigue. Stress and tension not only lower sleep quality but also interfere with sleep. To alleviate such tension and improve sleep quality for a sound night's sleep, we developed a comforter (duvet) that combines the sense of security provided by weights with the comfort of a duvet. "Brain Sleep Comforter" Product Structure [Weight Balancer] A unique weight balancer (1.5 kg for a single size) is placed on the chest, providing a hug-like sense of security through moderate pressure stimulation. [Filling (Insulation)] The new filling uses Toray's fiber balls, which are soft and embrace warm air, gently enveloping the body. [Side Weights] Weights on the sides reduce duvet shifting and maintain warmth inside the bed, allowing for comfortable sleep until morning. What is "Weight Balance" that is expected to be effective in stress reduction? According to research (※1) from the University of Massachusetts, when 32 adults slept with a weighted blanket (13.6 kg), ・33% of people experienced a decrease in skin conductance (relaxation) ・63% of people felt reduced anxiety after use ・78% of people felt calmer These results suggest that participants relaxed and slept better. However, overly heavy blankets can be burdensome for daily use and may not always positively impact sleep quality. These fiber balls, created by specially processing raw cotton, consist of "hollow fibers" with a central void, allowing them to retain air. This provides high insulation, making them very warm, and offers a voluminous yet lightweight feel. Furthermore, the side weight structure (weights on both sides) traps this warm air, maintaining comfortable warmth throughout the night. It also prevents the duvet from slipping off during tossing and turning, allowing for peaceful sleep until morning without waking up due to cold. Since it doesn't shift easily, it also frees you from the stress of making the bed in the morning. Special soft pipes are used for the weights, which do not obstruct breathability. Always clean and safe with non-allergens While down is considered the best filling for duvets, it has drawbacks such as being prone to dust and mites, not being washable, and having an odor. The "Brain Sleep Comforter" uses sustainable filling made from recycled materials derived from Toray's process waste. Since it is in a spherical shape, there is less fiber breakage, and the outer fabric is down-proof treated, resulting in less filling leakage and reduced dust. It can be machine washed at home, keeping it clean.
