Mori Building aims to "create a town where living and working in the town (Hills) is all connected to 'wellness,'" and this initiative is being carried out as an effort to explore the effectiveness of wellness-related content, especially sleep-themed content, as a new added value in the office. Overview For this initiative, Brain Sleep used its questionnaire-based sleep scoring service "Sleep Standard Deviation for Biz *1 " and sleep measurement device "Brain Sleep Coin *2 " to visualize participants' sleep status over the course of a month. In addition, the initiative provided events to raise awareness of sleep and special content with proven effectiveness in improving sleep. Sleep time also improved by 6 minutes. Sleep debt improved by 25 minutes. This is believed to be the result of learning knowledge on sleep improvement, reviewing sleep habits using content, and making them into correct habits, improving the quality of sleep. ❷Improve productivity There was also an improvement in productivity, an important indicator for office workers. Physical and mental health and brain activity were both up by +10.5 points. In addition, daytime sleepiness, an important indicator of productivity, was down by -22.9 points for those who answered "I'm sometimes sleepy during the day and can't get work done." 3. Behavioral changes and satisfaction According to a survey conducted after the project, there were notable changes in behavior, such as being conscious of daytime behavior, such as getting sunlight in the morning and not consuming caffeine after the evening, and changing the time to go to bed and the length of sleep. The most satisfying aspect of this project was the measurement using the Brain Sleep Coin, with 80% of participants saying they were glad to have participated. Specifically, they said that they had become more interested in being able to easily measure their sleep every day and in accumulating their own sleep. In addition, more than 60% of participants said they would like to consult with a specialist about their sleep problems and issues, indicating a high demand for sleep consultations from specialists. The most common topics people wanted to consult about were "light sleep," "unrelieved fatigue," and "waking up in the middle of the night or early in the morning," and a certain number of participants were worried about the risk of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea syndrome. ■Comment from Mr. Shin, a Mori Building representative This project provided office workers with an opportunity to reconsider their own sleep habits and allowed them to experience an improvement in the overall quality of their lives. With human capital management attracting attention in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we participated in the project to explore the possibility of providing new added value in the office from the perspective of "wellness," one of the important elements of human capital management, and gained many insights and clues for moving forward. We will use these insights to help create cities where people can work comfortably. ■ Future developments In health management measures, where employee voluntary efforts are important, we believe that it is effective to approach health management from the perspective of sleep, given the high level of interest in sleep and sleep measurement among the participants in this project. By combining Sleep Standard Deviation for Biz, a questionnaire format that allows subjective responses often used in health management, with sleep measurement using Brain Sleep Coin, which allows daily sleep to be visualized using a measurement device, it is possible to visualize improvement numerically from both subjective and objective axes. Brain Sleep will improve the sleep of corporate employees, thereby raising health awareness and improving presenteeism, and will promote the introduction of Sleep Standard Deviation for Biz and Brain Sleep Coin to even more companies.
