Brain Sleep Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kosuke Michibata; hereinafter referred to as "Brain Sleep") held a seminar entitled "The Stanford Way to Get the Best Sleep: How to Perform Even in the COVID-19 Era" as part of support initiatives to further enhance well-being promoted by EY Japan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). Background of the seminar EY Japan has introduced "EY Flex & Remote" as a unique way of working in anticipation of the post-COVID era, aiming to provide flexible working styles, including remote work, and to enrich the lives of individual members. However, when conducting a needs survey of members, the results showed that there was a high demand for good quality sleep and improving daytime performance. As a result, it was decided to implement measures focusing on "sleep" from the perspective of "improving self-care", and a place to support members' sleep was created as a collaborative health project in cooperation with the EY Japan Health Insurance Society and EY Japan. Measures Seiji Nishino, Chief Research Advisor of Brain Sleep and author of "The Stanford Way to Get the Best Sleep," gave a keynote speech entitled "The Stanford Way to Get the Best Sleep: How to Perform Even in the COVID-19 Era." The lecture was based on scientific evidence and focused on the mechanisms of sleep and the importance of sleep in improving work performance. After the lecture, participants asked approximately 60 questions about the content of the lecture, making it a great success. In addition to Nishino, we also had a discussion with Kei Ouchida, EY Japan Regional Talent Leader, Vice Chairman of EY Ernst & Young ShinNihon LLC, and Chairman of EY Japan Health Insurance Association, and Atsushi Seiya, EY Industrial Physician. Based on the results of a questionnaire collected from participants in advance, Nishino provided in-depth advice on sleep, including tips for ensuring sleep to improve well-being and for continuously demonstrating stable performance. More than 1,400 people applied on the day, showing once again how much attention people are paying to sleep. Brain Sleep will continue to support EY members in improving their sleep and contributing to the increased productivity that comes with improved sleep. Brain Sleep believes that it is extremely important for companies to take measures at the corporate level and encourage employees to improve their sleep, as sleep is a major social issue in Japan compared to the rest of the world, yet measures to address it are insufficient. We will continue to support health management centered on "sleep" for companies that are concerned about the health and growth of their employees.
