Brain Sleep Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Atsushi Hirota; hereinafter "Brain Sleep") supervised the development of new concept rooms that evolve the "good sleep" initiatives provided by Superhotel Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kensaku Yamamoto; hereinafter "Superhotel").These concept rooms will be available starting Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Superhotel Premier Tokyo Station Yaesu Central Exit. Background For many guests staying at a hotel, the longest time spent is "sleep." However, hotels are a different environment from home, and sleep tends to be disturbed, such as becoming light due to differences in sound, light, temperature, and bedding.Superhotel has a philosophy of "starting the day energized with a good night's sleep" and established the "Gussuri Research Institute" in 2004 in collaboration with Dr. Norinaga Shimizu, Honorary Professor at Osaka Prefecture University. They have implemented scientifically-backed "good sleep experiences" nationwide, including the introduction of health ionic water, eight types of pillows to choose from, natural hot springs, and humidity control using diatomaceous earth on guest room ceilings. They also introduced the industry's first "Accommodation Quality Assurance System," which refunds accommodation fees if a guest cannot sleep well during their stay and cannot change rooms. To further evolve the "good sleep" experience, Superhotel requested Brain Sleep to supervise the upgrade of the sleep environment. About the Concept Rooms ① Space Design with approximately 45% Wood Interior in the Guest Room Approximately 45% of the room's interior is finished with natural wood, maximizing the relaxation effect from the scent of wood.Research has confirmed that in spaces with a 45% wood ratio, deep sleep duration extended by an average of 14 minutes, contributing to recovery from daytime fatigue and improved concentration *1.Additionally, the unique insulation and humidity-regulating effects of wood moderate indoor temperature fluctuations, maintaining a comfortable sleep environment throughout the year. This is a crucial element for regulating the "bedroom temperature and humidity environment," which affects sleep quality, and provides a comfortable sleep experience as if sleeping in a forest. The wood used this time is cedar from Morotsuka Village, Miyazaki Prefecture, which has the "Takachiho-go and Shiibayama Region" recognized as a World Agricultural Heritage site in 2015, and with which Superhotel has concluded an agreement regarding regional revitalization projects. This is a circular initiative that not only provides a high-quality sleep environment but also contributes to the utilization of sustainable forest resources and regional revitalization. *1 Mikako Nishimura. This design aims to enhance sleep continuity and regulate the awakening rhythm for the next morning, creating a "new habit of charging and resting." *2 Chang A-M. et al. (2015). Research reports that a decrease in head temperature contributes to faster sleep onset and longer deep sleep duration *5.Furthermore, its 3-layer, 9-gradient structure naturally supports the head and neck, maintaining ideal cervical alignment without hindering turning over. This relieves muscle tension, reduces micro-awakenings during sleep, and enhances recovery from fatigue.Experiments have shown that even with one hour less sleep, the recovery rate from fatigue is approximately 16% higher compared to a regular pillow *6. *5 https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/onki/78/1/78_6/_article/-char/ja/*6 Brain Sleep Inc.
