Project Goals
Newborn babies sleep and wake up repeatedly regardless of day or night, and have different sleep patterns from adults. Therefore, caregivers tend to have fragmented sleep due to night crying and breastfeeding, which can lead to poor quality sleep and sleep deprivation. It has been reported that 10-20% of women experience postpartum depression, and factors that increase the risk include lack of sleep and frequent awakenings at night*1. Furthermore, according to a study by the National Center for Child Health and Development, the percentage of fathers who are judged to be at risk of mental health problems one year after giving birth is said to be 11.0%, which is almost the same as the percentage of mothers (10.8%). In recent years, postpartum depression has also become apparent in men*2.
In light of this social background, Mitsui Fudosan launched a new business, a childcare facility aimed at providing sleep and rest for caregivers, and Brain Sleep supervises the sleep environment and provides sleep products (Brain Sleep Pillow).
